Our Founder & Executive Director

    Girls Empowered for More Society, Inc.

    Toccara Huckaby

    Our founder and executive director is Toccara Huckaby, an honor graduate of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and obtained her highly qualified certification in 6th-8th grade Reading/Language Arts. Toccara had a successful teaching career in Caddo Parish including being recognized as the Rookie Teacher of the Year at Walnut Hill Elementary/Middle School. Throughout her teaching career, she served in various roles such as grade-level chair, mentor teacher, danceline sponsor, member of the district's academic Task Force, and Teacher Leader for the state of Louisiana. In 2012, Toccara was honored as the Teacher of the Year for her school and Caddo Parish's Middle School Teacher of the Year.  In 2014, Toccara became the director of after school programs for a local nonprofit organization.  In March of 2022, Toccara decided to utilize her skills and talents developed over the years to become an entrepreneur. She became the owner of Stonewall Learning Center Plus in Desoto parish which offers tutoring, art, and music instruction to students in kindergarten through twelfth grade.  Toccara's dedication and service to children and her community earned her the title of Hero of the Month for Northwest Louisiana Homes for Heroes Organization. In 2022, she was also recognized as a Non-Profit Professional of the Year honoree by the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce. Most recently, Toccara was a recipient of KOKA's Roy Griggs 50 Under 50 Award. Toccara's passion for helping children reach their full potential has been evident throughout her professional career, however, it has been magnified since becoming a wife and mother of two girls.
